when a 6.6-magnitude earthquake hit two of gansu province’s counties, minxian and zhangxian, on july 22, wreaking havoc among the local people, bluestar’s president, ren jianxin, immediately responded by holding a disaster-relief meeting, where he said that, as a company that got its beginning in gansu, bluestar has a close connection with the people there and is obligated to donate and help them start a new life. ren jianxin asked the local companies to cooperate with the local government to the fullest and to join in the disaster relief work.
wei zhirong, the executive vice-mayor of the city of dingxi, received the donation of 1 million yuan ($163,557) on behalf of the government, on july 25, and said that bluestar has maintained close cooperation with the dingxi government and has contributed to the local development, and wei thanked bluestar for the generous donation and for helping the area restore itself and for its selfless act.
