the 25th bluestar international summer camp got off to a good start, on july 20, carrying on bluestar culture and providing a bridge between employees in china and abroad, with the theme of “gobal dream, bluestar dream, my dream”, with 22 branches across china and all subsidiaries.
the event has evolved from a handful of campers in 1990 to thousands in total over the 25 years, and this year has a whopping 945 taking part, some from a dozen foreign countries, who will get a chance to enjoy an unforgettable experience for the next three weeks.
more than 200 campers from beijing’s no.1 and 2 branches were at an opening ceremony the first day, with yang xingqiang, vice-general manager of chemchina, zhang lijun, vice-general manager of bluestar, gao jianjun, bluestar party secretary, and zhang wei, vice-general manager of bluestar (beijing) chemical machinery also taking part.
beijing’s branch no.1 contributed 135 campers, 18 of them from gulang county, gansu, where bluestar helps with support, some from the cities of jinan, nanjing and harbin, and 46 from france, australia, norway and the uk.
gao was host of the opening ceremony, and yang greeted the students and teachers on behalf of ren jianxin, chemchina’s gm. first, he praised the summer camp’s evolution over the years and quoted charles eliot, a former president of harvard university, as saying that the influence of one’s peers is the most significant part of a student’s growing up, and there should be a multi-faceted environment where students can communicate. he then concluded by saying he hoped the campers can study hard to gain more knowledge and pave the way for future development, and urged them to make friends, develop a team spirit, and learn to share.
yang and zhang then presented camp flags to the campers, with zhang giving a brief history of the summer camp and saying that it has grown with bluestar over the years, and, “went from lanzhou to spread across the whole county and the rest of the world”.
this annual summer camp reflects bluestar’s perspective in a unique way and has become an integral part of the company, playing an important part in employee cohesion and showing and inheriting bluestar culture. speaking on behalf of their fellow campers were jade bridgeman, from australia’s qenos, and cao bing’ao, from beijing’s branch no.2, who said that although the campers were from different countries, the summer camp has been able to bring them together and provide an opportunity to get to know each other and adapt to other cultures. the summer camp is an important part of caring for employees and spreading the bluestar spirit.
