hangzhou water treatment center has recently secured a contract with a steel plant in the middle east for a 150,000-ton/day seawater desalination project. design activities have been launched for phase i of the project (50,000 tons/day). located in a port city by the persian gulf, the plant is expected to be the second largest in the local area.
the marketing department of hangzhou water treatment learned about this project as early as in late 2013 at an international exhibition of the industry held in europe. a team was soon sent to frankfurt to communicate with the company concerned. this effort impressed the customer and laid a solid foundation for further steps. to secure the contract, hangzhou water treatment devoted its whole technical team to the planning, process design, and quotation of the project.
given that the project is located by the persian gulf where red tides are very likely to occur, hangzhou water treatment conducted onsite inspection to check the seawater quality and surrounding projects. then they carried out rounds of demonstrations based on the data and questions thus acquired, and made bold adjustments to conventional processes. meanwhile they actively communicated with the project management company to make changes to the original process design and improve system integration. the final design, though more complicated, solved key problems such as precipitation during red tides. also, the pretreatment system was replaced to achieve higher filtration precision, automation, and stability, thus reducing the amount of civil work required, making installation easier and saving costs for the customer.
on february 14 this year, hangzhou water treatment presented its best plan to the customer and secured the contract through arduous negotiations despite various difficulties such as language barriers.
"this is a major milestone for hangzhou water treatment. it is not only another seawater desalination project in the middle east but also an overseas demonstration project,” said the marketing director of hangzhou water treatment. “with advanced design concepts for seawater desalination, excellent project management and execution, and global experience in this area, hangzhou water treatment will see more opportunities overseas. negotiations are currently going on for multiple such projects.”
currently, hangzhou water treatment has seawater desalination projects in indonesia, saudi arabia, the philippines, tunisia, and pakistan; while in the future, the company will strive to go global at a quickened pace.
