bluestar’s cleaning service in a floating production storage and offloading project of cnooc’s nanhai fenjin recently concluded and passed an acceptance check.
the project can produce 11,000 tons of crude oil per day, which is approximately worth 50 million yuan ($8.03 million) per day. the fpso has been running for 12 years since it went into operation in 2002, and the oilfield equipment suffered severe corrosion, greatly affecting production and safety. the overhaul check had to be done in merely four months before full production resumed.
faced with such a tight schedule, bluestar’s cleaning project department immediately put gao po, who was part of the cleaning project for the bohai sea mingzhu bulk carrier, on the job once it took the task. at the same time, the project team repeatedly discussed construction plan and scheduling with the proprietor to ensure all work could be finished on time. during the project, senior employees offered guidance and help to junior ones. bluestar also provided an independent lab for the team to conduct experiments, and arranged for the technical department to conduct multiple tests on cleaning agents to ensure an effective formula. it also asked other employees in the mingzhu project to give advice on construction technique schemes and sent people to implement three detailed offshore research activities on the fpso project. the company coordinated all parties to transform ordinary cleaning pump stations into anti-explosion pump stations. it also offered equipment in accordance with offshore construction requirements and had them delivered ahead of time. it properly scheduled cleaning agent production to ensure timely supply.
at the end of march, personnel from the cleaning department boarded nanhai fenjin and began intense construction, which lasted half a month. the work zone featured gales, rough sea and an average temperature over 35c. the project team decided to start the work ahead of schedule after they learned that the proprietor had moved the original plan ahead. yang chenliang, manager of the cleaning team, led all members to overcome the scorching heat and seasickness and properly laid out the work plan. they worked around the clock and successfully finished the cleaning task. the hard work was highly regarded by cnooc’s leaders, who sent a commendatory letter to express their gratitude for bluestar’s quality work.
