qenos has been an integral part of the altona community for more than 50 years, and is a proud partner of the biennial art & industry festival 2016. as a sponsor, qenos opened its doors to show residents how polyethylene is made.
the visitor experience included an introductory presentation on qenos and its bluestar ownership, the company’s focus on safety health & environment and also corporate social responsibility in the local community. the marketing department provided a detailed display of many customer products including pipe, film and food packaging.
guests then boarded a bus to tour the technical centre to see the ‘state-of-the art’ testing methods and facilities provided by qenos chemists and technicians. also on display were the various machines used by customers to produce consumer products including the film extruder, roto moulder and the new blow moulder where sample milk bottles were handed out to the younger visitors.
‘industrial fashion’ was the theme for the art & industry fashion parade where young designers took the theme of industry to a new level. some very creative artists transformed polyethylene produced by qenos into the most stunning and cutting edge fashion items imaginable. it’s hard to imagine such beautiful dresses were inspired from the humble milk bottle.
the inaugural festival runs over a ten day period shining a light on industry through the eyes of local artists.
