the 2020 chemchina science and technology award was officially released recently, with enterprises directly under bluestar winning 16 awards including 6 science and technology progress awards, 8 patent awards and 2 advanced enterprise awards in patent-related work. they ranked top among specialized companies.

the chemchina science and technology award has been set to motivate the enthusiasm and creativity of scientists and technicians and to reward individuals and units that have made outstanding contributions to technological innovation. it is selected once a year, consisting of four awards, namely the technological invention award, scientific and technological progress award, patent award, and technological innovation and contribution award. the prizes are open to the public. in addition to bluestar’s enterprises, those participating in the award selection also include companies under chemchina, other enterprises, and universities and research institutes.

during the selection period, the bluestar headquarters organized domestic and international enterprises to actively engage in the event, with 16 of the 21 projects submitted finally awarded. award-winning projects and enterprises have been aimed at improving the quality and technology of bluestar products and boosting the sustainable development of bluestar. bluestar has practiced the philosophy of science-driven development to meet the needs of users and advance the technological progress of the industry by carrying out relevant r&d, achieving application outcomes.

six enterprises won the science and technology progress award for the projects such as adisseo’s innovative project and application of upstream and downstream integration of at88 (liquid methionine), nantong xingchen’s development and application of polyphenylene ether — 2,6-dimethylphenol collaborative manufacturing technology, bluestar chonfar’s key technologies and applications for the development and utilization of underground carnallite resources, development of new methods and international standards for plastic ash determination by bluestar chengrand chengdu testing technology co., ltd., elkem xinghuo silicones’ development of silicone wastewater reduction and standard raising technology, and lehigh institute’s application of  filling and mining technologies for chemical mines. of them, adisseo’s project has changed china’s total dependence on imports of feed-grade methionine, completely reversed the supply situation of methionine in china, and upgraded chemical industry products. adisseo has set an exemplar of efficient synergy between domestic and overseas enterprises of bluestar and won the first prize of the science and technology progress award.

gold patent awards went to bluestar dongda’s preparation method of highly active and low volatile polyether polyol and bluestar chengrand institute’s a process for continuous production of polycarbonate by ester exchange method. silver patent awards went to hangzhou water treatment’s preparation method of a high-performance reverse osmosis anti-pollution membrane, nantong xingchen’s emission system for reducing ech organic exhaust in epoxy resin production and leigh institute’s preparation method and application of testosterone cluster monomonas lh-n5 and heterotrophic nitrification aerobic denitrification microbial agent. excellence awards went to elkem xinghuo silicones’ preparation method of a hydroxyl capped polydimethylsiloxane, bluestar chonfar’s design method of multi-return shaft mine ventilation system and leigh institute’s a new type of slope anti-seepage system for phosphogypsum storage. elkem and qenos were awarded as advanced enterprises in patent. among them, bluestar dongda’s patent has been applied to prepare polyether polyol products featuring low odor, low voc and low aldehyde content, which fill the gap in the domestic market and are widely used in high-end automotive interior decoration. bluestar chengrand institute’s patent has solved the key and common technical problems of polycarbonate synthesis by ester exchange method in china, leading china’s polycarbonate synthesis industry in embarking on the non-phosgene route.
