originating from chengrand chemical institute of the chemical industry ministry, china bluestar chengrand research institute of chemical industry (otherwise referred to as bluestar chengrand institute) was founded in 1965 in fushun county, sichuan province and moved to chengdu in 1987. in 1999, it became a subordinate to china national bluestar (group) co., ltd., a subsidiary of china national chemical corporation. as one of china’s earliest institutes specializing in the research of new chemical materials including organic silicone, organic fluorine, engineering plastic and specialty fibers, it was approved as one of the national (provincial) high-tech enterprises in 2008 and won the sichuan province labor award in 2009.
chengrand institute is mainly engaged in the research and production of refined products, such as fluorine/silicone materials, engineering plastic, specialty fibers and epoxy resin. the institute has a fully equipped research and development center, which has five research offices of specialty fibers, organic fluorine, organic silicone, refined chemical, engineering plastic under its control. it is an industry leader in researching a number of key technologies and products of organic silicone, engineering plastic, specialty fibers, specialty fluorine materials and other fields. the institute has set up 8 departments, one design institute, one testing center and one information center, and its products cover organic silicone, organic fluorine, engineering plastic, specialty fibers and compound materials, epoxy resin, and etc. it has strong capabilities in the development, design and contracting of chemical projects.
china bluestar chengrand institute is the supporting unit of many national and international technological institutions including national organic silicon engineering and technology research center, national loaded structure engineering plastics engineering and technology research center, national synthetic resin quality supervision and inspection center and national synthetic material inspection lab, national plastics standardization technology committee, the secretariat of the plastic technical committee of international organization for standardization (iso/tc61), the national information station of synthetic resin and plastic industry, the organic silicon committee of china association of fluorine and silicon industry, the resin modification and alloy committee of the engineering plastics industry association of china, the post-doctoral research station approved by state ministry of personnel and the journals of plastic industry and silicone materials.
china bluestar chengrand institute has successively undertaken more than 500 major national research projects, with more than 480 scientific achievements. the institute has gained over 300 national, provincial and metropolitan awards. the institute has also completed the transfer of over 100 research achievements, which have been adopted by more than 200 domestic and overseas enterprises.
china bluestar chengrand new material base, invested and founded by china bluestar chengrand institute, is a comprehensive functional park integrating scientific research and development, scientific accomplishments commercialization and industrialization with an area of 1,200 mu (800,000 hectares) and a planned investment of approximately 5.5 billion yuan. the first phase of the project has been completed and put into production. the second phase of constructing an aramid fiber ⅱ and compound material project of 10,000 tons per year is under preparation. once the base is completed, its annual sales will exceed 5 billion yuan, and it will become one of china’s biggest development and production bases of new materials.
